Telangana Exhibitors Put Peddi Under Pressure Again

The theatre issue involving Peddi is once again getting complicated in Telangana. After some calm was created following talks between producers, exhibitors, and distributors, the problem has come back strongly just before the film's release.

In the past few weeks, Telangana exhibitors have been asking for the percentage system to be used in single screen theatres instead of the current rental model.
However, producers are said to be unwilling to make quick changes for films that are already being made and ready to be released.

Earlier, both sides had agreed to form a committee with members from producers, exhibitors, and distributors to find a solution.
This step helped reduce the tension and gave hope that Peddi would not face any problems when it came out.

But before the committee could finish its work, exhibitors again spoke to the media and set new conditions.
They made it clear that Peddi would only be shown in single screen theatres if the percentage system is used.

Exhibitors also told that they had already talked with the Telugu Film Chamber.
They said the issue was supposed to be settled around the time of Hari Hara Veera Mallu's release, but producers have been delaying it for months.

They argue that theatres used to make good money in the past, but now collections and profits have gone down a lot.
They say most of the country uses the percentage model, but Telangana still uses the rental system. With Peddi being one of the biggest upcoming films, this issue is once again causing serious worries for the industry.
