According to trade reports, a few shows ran in Hyderabad, but many theaters had very few people.
The lack of buzz meant the release went unnoticed in several places.
Revolver Rita is supposed to be a dark comedy thriller, but the story isn't anything new.
It reminds people of older movies like Coco Kokila and Keeda Kola. The basic idea is that a mother and daughter accidentally kill a local gangster who comes into their home. What happens next is a mess of trying to hide the body, escape from the gangster's son, avoid the police, and deal with the fallout. The film includes a lot of things, but none of them feel real or convincing. It's like trying to make biryani without the main ingredients—just bland and forgettable.
The screenplay is repetitive and boring, making the film a textbook example of how not to write a dark comedy.
Watching Keerthy Suresh, who used to give amazing performances in movies like Mahanati, stuck in such a weak role is a letdown. Most of her recent movies, like Miss India, Penguin, Good Luck Sakhi, and now this film, have not done well at the box office. Her attempt to break into Bollywood with Baby John also didn't work out.
For an actress with her talent, Revolver Rita feels like another chance she missed.
