According to a report by OTT nights, Netflix has acquired the OTT streaming rights to 'Akhanda 2,' and the film will be available for viewing on January 9, 2026.
However, this has not been officially confirmed yet.
The OTT release of 'Akhanda 2' is of interest to people who may have missed the movie in theaters or those who prefer watching big film events at home.
'Akhanda 2' was released in theaters after being delayed from its originally planned street launch on December 5 due to legal issues. But, the movie was highly anticipated in theaters because of the star power of its lead actor Balakrishna and the popularity of the Akhanda film franchise with its core audience. The OTT release is also a geographically targeted strategy, with staggered launches on Hindi OTT platforms, as a deliberate and calculated move to reach audiences who have not seen 'Akhanda 2' and to create ongoing excitement.
Directed by Boyapati Srinu, the sequel features a return performance by Nandamuri Balakrishna, who reprises his iconic role of Akhanda, a character who doesn’t fight because he is a God.
One of the key highlights of the sequel is the introduction of Aadhi Pinisetty, who plays the role of a villain with special powers that drive the movie’s conflict. Aadhi reportedly signed up for the movie early on, believing in the director’s vision, even before knowing the full story, because of the strength of his character in the film. The buzz around the OTT release is enhancing the excitement for the future of this franchise.
With its action-packed scenes, religious themes, and Balakrishna’s magic, 'Akhanda 2' made a big impression in 2023.
Even the OTT release buzz is adding to the excitement, especially as audiences look forward to the sequel. 'Akhanda 3' has been announced and is titled 'Jai Akhanda,' promising more excitement.
Meanwhile, Balayya’s previous movie was the action film 'Daaku Maharaaj,' which turned out to be a big hit.
