Some thought the story was inspired by Thalapathy Vijay's Theri. Many also believed that the film was delayed because Pawan Kalyan was busy with his political work and other movie projects.
Harish Shankar has now cleared up all those rumors.
During the launch of the first single today, he said that Ustaad Bhagat Singh is not a remake at all. He explained that Pawan Kalyan was not the reason for the long delay. In fact, Pawan gave full support to the project and even shot for 18 to 20 hours on some days, despite his political duties, to finish the shoot quickly.
Harish Shankar mentioned that he originally wanted to make a more classy film with a college setting, different from the mass entertainer style of Gabbar Singh.
However, he changed his plan after considering Pawan Kalyan's film schedule and decided to make a remake. But the remake idea didn’t work out, leading to a long delay. He also shared that he went through a period of mental stress during the pandemic and eventually came up with a new script that fits Pawan's mass image.
He added that the movie finally started shooting after a long delay and was completed quickly thanks to Pawan's dedication.
He mentioned that Pawan would arrive in Hyderabad after finishing his official work and cabinet meetings, shoot until early morning, and then return to his duties without taking much rest.
So, Harish Shankar's statement has ended the long-standing confusion about the remake rumors and cleared up the misconception that Pawan Kalyan caused the delay.
