Silence on Akhanda 2 Release Date Troubles Small Movies

On December 5, Akhanda 2 was scheduled for release. At the last minute, the team decided to postpone it and promised to announce a new date shortly. There has not been any news since. For a number of short films scheduled for December, this gap has caused confusion.

Two dates are apparently being considered by the team: December 12 and December 25. The earliest choice, December 12, is thought to help the movie capitalize on its present excitement. A holiday weekend on December 25 could increase box office receipts.

The problem is straightforward. Small films reserved these dates for their own openings because no large releases had been scheduled earlier. On December 12, movies like Mowgli, Psych Siddhartha, and Eesha are slated. With just a few days remaining, these producers are uncertain about carrying on with promotions due to the Akhanda 2 team's lack of clarity. Their resources and efforts might be squandered if the huge movie comes out on the same day, so they would have to start over.

Actor Bandi Saroj from Mowgli, who portrays the adversary in the movie, publicly chastised 14 Reels Plus for the wait. He asked the team to disclose the release date, saying that producers, fans, and distributors are being impacted by the silence.

Conversely, 14 Reels Plus is handling legal matters related to the movie's premiere. The decision has been delayed as a result.

According to rumors, December 12 is currently the most likely date. If Akhanda 2 is released that weekend, smaller movies will have to choose whether to proceed or back off.
