Legendary filmmaker Singeetam Srinivas is best known to audiences as a torchbearer for directing groundbreaking movies during his heydays.
He was the pioneer behind the first silent film Pushpaka Vimanam and the first time travel movie Aditya 369.
Although he has been away from directing for a while now due to his age, Singeetam Srinivas continues to stay connected with the film industry by appearing in cameo roles in films occasionally.
He also gave some creative input to young director Nag Ashwin while making Kalki 2898AD.
The creative auteur, who is 94 years old, is now returning to direct an interesting project featuring new talents.
The untitled film, which is called SSR61, has been officially announced and will be produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. Nag Ashwin will supervise the film, while Devi Sri Prasad will compose the soundtrack.
The makers have released a one minute thirty second announcement video that highlights the greatness and unmatched legacy of the genius filmmaker who created many classic blockbusters throughout his career.
The brief video includes references to some memorable scenes from his iconic films and praise from well-known celebrities who have lauded the director for his constant desire to make unique films.
Taking on the role of a director at the age of 94 is itself a remarkable achievement.
Vyjayanthi Movies has pitched SSR 61 as his most ambitious project yet. The title and additional details will be revealed soon. Previously, there were reports that Singeetam Srinivas was set to direct the sequel to Aditya 369. However, that project didn’t move beyond the discussion stage.
