Bollywood is often praised for making movies that show progress in Indian cinema.
At the same time, many popular films still use old and harmful themes. A similar debate is now happening because of a new song from the movie KD: The Devil.
The song is called Sarke Chunar Teri Sarke and features Bollywood actress Nora Fatehi, who is well-known for dancing in popular songs.
The visuals of the song follow the usual format of item songs with lots of glamour and noticeable skin exposure.
However, the main issue being discussed on social media is the lyrics. Many people say the words are rude and make fun of women.
One particular line from the song has gone viral online.
The lyrics are:
“Pahle uthale, ander wo dale, neeche ek boond na girae, khali kar ke nikale, mujh pe na girana mujhe lagta hai dar.”
The meaning of this line is:
“First lift it, put it inside, don’t drop even a single drop below, empty it fully and then pull out, don’t spill on me, I feel scared.”
Because of these words, many people on social media are upset and criticising the filmmakers.
Some users are also questioning why the performers and the film team took part in a song with such lyrics.
KD: The Devil is being promoted as an action drama that stars Kannada actor Dhruva Sarja in the lead role.
The song was recently released as part of the film's promotional efforts. The makers' approach, which was meant to be good, has actually caused a lot of criticism instead.
