Satya Dev is preparing for what he thinks will be the most important movie of his career, Rao Bahadur, a highly anticipated psychological thriller directed by Venkatesh Maha.
The film is being made by Superstar Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar's GMB Entertainment, along with A+S Movies and SriChakraas Entertainments.
It's ready to hit the big screen on July 3.
Satya Dev is very confident about the project, especially before its release.
He said, "We always wanted Rao Bahadur to be a Telugu film that's completely different. After watching the movie, Mahesh Babu used the same words to describe it.Everyone who saw it also said the same thing. That confidence comes from the film itself."
He explained that Rao Bahadur is a psychological drama with elements of magical realism and dark comedy.
According to him, the visuals might seem scary or eerie at first, but as the story progresses, each image and metaphor makes sense.
The actor shared that putting on his makeup each day took about five hours, and taking it off took another hour and a half.
But he said the hardest part was mentally preparing for the role."For this film, preparing my mind was way more important than putting on makeup.I mentally trained myself to work for sixteen hours every day and truly enjoyed every moment."
Satya Dev believes Rao Bahadur will change how people see his career.
"Until now, people talked about my career as before and after Jyothi Lakshmi.I really think people will talk about my journey as before and after Rao Bahadur."
He explained that his character, Ramappa, is completely unpredictable.
"Ramappa is a wild character. After people watch the film, Ramappa will become the benchmark.During the shoot, I was so into the role that it felt like the character had taken over me."
The story takes place between the 1960s and 1990s and follows a wandering man who returns to his family's ancestral palace, Bhuvanalayam, leading to a series of unusual events.
He also praised his co-star Deepa Thomas, calling their love story one of the emotional highlights of the film and appreciating every actor's dedication to their roles.
One of the most emotional moments for the actor was talking about Mahesh Babu's involvement.
"I worked with Mahesh Babu in Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu, but my scene was cut.Today, hearing him introduce my film with his voice-over is a unique feeling. His voice-over is truly priceless."
Confident in the film's success, Satya Dev said that Telugu audiences have always loved new stories from other industries and that Rao Bahadur will finally bring that same fresh experience directly from Telugu cinema itself.
