Nagarjuna’s Odyssey Reference Is a Reality Check for Tollywood

Nagarjuna Akkineni is doing really well with his new movie, Lenin, as a producer.

At today’s success meeting for the film, Nagarjuna sincerely asked the entire Telugu film industry not to delay movie releases and to follow the set deadlines and announced dates.He also admitted that he had delayed the release of Lenin himself.

Delaying film releases usually hurts the movie’s earnings and reduces the excitement around it.

The film industry is moving towards a bad habit of announcing a release date and then pushing it back for many reasons.Sometimes, the reasons are real, but they could have been avoided.

Nagarjuna used the example of the Hollywood film Odyssey, which is currently in theaters.

The makers of Odyssey set the release date a year in advance, and Nagarjuna mentioned this, asking everyone involved—technicians, directors, music composers, and others—to prepare the film’s release material two weeks before.He believes this process helps in making a better product.

Nagarjuna also agreed that he delayed the release of Lenin because the film wasn’t fully ready.

He also questioned why he couldn’t meet the deadlines and thought back to when they used to have the release copy ready a month ahead.

What Nagarjuna said today reflects the feelings of many in the film industry.

Poor planning often leads to bad results.And delays in one film can affect others, which we’ve seen many times.On the other hand, filmmakers usually try to stick to the planned dates, but with so many people involved, it becomes very hard.Lately, it’s almost impossible to plan and carry out things without any issues.
