Acclaimed Tollywood producer Dil Raju has found some relief from the Supreme Court in a long-running copyright issue.The case started in 2017 when a writer named Shyamala Rani claimed that the story of Dil Raju's 2011 film Mr.Perfect, starring Prabhas, was copied from her novel called Naa Manasu Korindi Ninne.
Because of this claim, a lower court sent notices to Dil Raju under cheating and copyright laws.
He then took the case to higher courts to fight these notices and protect his reputation.The High Court removed the cheating charges but let the copyright part of the case continue.Not happy with that, Dil Raju went to the Supreme Court in early 2025.
The Supreme Court stopped the lower court proceedings while it looked into whether the original complaint was filed on time.
Recently, the complainant's lawyer asked the Supreme Court to end this pause, saying the writer is old.But a bench led by Chief Justice Surya Kant refused.The court said it had already looked at all the details and arguments before stopping the lower court case.
So, the pause on the case will stay for now, giving some relief to the senior producer.
