Ravi Teja's newest religious film, Irumudi, which became a massive hit after its release last Friday, is now facing strong criticism from a Teachers Association in Andhra Pradesh. The association is upset because some scenes in the movie show the education system in a bad light.
They are asking for the controversial parts to be taken out right away.
The AP Teachers' Federation (APTF) said the film wrongly portrays government schools, their students, and teachers, which hurts the image of public education.
The APTF's State President, Chennupati Manjula, and General Secretary, Basavalingarao, made a joint statement.
They said movies have a big influence on how people think about social issues. They urged filmmakers to be careful when dealing with topics that affect the public.
The association pointed out that the film, directed by Shiva Nirvana, shows a government school teacher in a negative way.
They also mentioned that the movie names a specific government school in Sileru, Alluri Sitharama Raju district, and even uses the exact uniforms worn by students in Andhra Pradesh government schools.
The APTF called these scenes disrespectful and unnecessary.
They asked the filmmakers to remove any content that harms the image of teachers and the public school system.
So far, the makers of Irumudi have not commented on the issue, as those scenes were important to the story.
The film is still doing very well at the box office in Telugu states and overseas.
