Suriya's Vishwanath & Sons is on track to become his most successful movie in North America so far.
So far, his film 24 is the biggest hit with around $1.6 million in North America.
Now, Vishwanath & Sons is expected to beat that number today.
A big reason for this success is the support from Telugu people living overseas.
Interestingly, the Telugu earnings for Vishwanath & Sons are nearly double the Tamil earnings every day.
Earlier reports showed that the movie had the right kind of story for the NRI audience.
With good reviews and strong word-of-mouth, it has managed to reach this level.
What's even more interesting is that Vishwanath & Sons is a Tamil movie.
The makers announced it would be dubbed and released in Telugu, and yet the Telugu collections are much higher than the Tamil ones in North America.
The director, Venky Atluri, and producer, Naga Vamsi, are both from the Telugu film industry.
Telugu audiences have once again shown that they deeply connect with the film and can make it a big hit if the content is strong.
While Vishwanath & Sons is doing well in the US, it now has to face the important Monday test in the domestic markets.
It's still unclear how the film will do today in both Telugu states and Tamil Nadu.
