The Legal Battle Over Sridevi’s ₹500 Cr Property!

Sridevi  The family of the late actress Sridevi is now involved in a new legal issue regarding a piece of land in Chennai.
The Supreme Court has taken notice and advised that the matter be settled through mediation.

Sridevi reportedly bought about five acres of land on Chennai’s East Coast Road in 1988.
Over the years, the property has become very valuable and is now estimated to be worth around 500 crores.

During her most successful time, Sridevi purchased several properties in Chennai.
This particular land was bought from a businessman named Modiliyar, who had sold it with all the proper legal documents. The property stayed with Sridevi and her family for many years, and a farmhouse was also built there.

The issue began after Sridevi’s passing when her family started transferring the property into the names of her husband, Boney Kapoor, and her daughters.
At that time, the sons of Modiliyar’s second wife came forward and said they also had a claim to the property.

They claimed that their father had sold the land while they were still children and that they were not aware of the transaction.
The Madras High Court dismissed their claim, stating that their mother was alive during the sale and had not raised any objection at the time.

Sridevi’s family then approached the Supreme Court, arguing that they were minors when the sale happened and now want to claim their rights as adults.

The Supreme Court has not yet decided if the sons have any legal claim to the property.
Instead, it has recommended that both sides try to resolve the dispute through mediation.

This situation has worried Sridevi’s family, as they believe the claim is coming decades after the property was originally bought and question the validity of the new demand.
