Janhvi Kapoor’s First Public Reaction To Peddi Controversy

Janhvi Kapoor has finally spoken about the controversy around her role in Ram Charan's Peddi.
During her appearance on Karan Johar's show, she admitted that the way her character was portrayed was an issue and said she could have handled it better.

She said, "Was it problematic?
Was it extreme objectification?Did it even promote sexual assault in the story?Yes," Janhvi admitted that she could have done more. She faced criticism for the sexualized way her character was shown, as some people felt certain scenes made her look objectified instead of respected.

In response to the criticism, Janhvi said she could have spoken up against it but chose to stay quiet, because she was part of the process and all the scenes were in the script.
However, the camera angles for how they would be shot were not discussed.

She also talked about how she felt after the criticism started.
She said she blamed herself for not being more careful and admitted that she should have used her position to question how her character was presented.

Janhvi explained that in the South, actors usually don’t get to see the full script or the camera angles before filming.
She said she was trying to make things better as she got more information.

Describing the experience, Janhvi said, "It was a violating experience in a way." She added that she hopes this experience makes directors think twice before showing a lead actress in a similar way.

She also said she has learned from the experience and won't blame anyone, because she was part of the whole setup.
Her comments have brought the Peddi controversy back into the news.

The discussion isn't only about how female characters are shown in movies like Peddi, but whether heroines should question scenes they think are wrong.
However, one needs to see what Buchi Babu Sana has to say about Janhvi's comments.Remember, he apologized as soon as Peddi was released.
