Directed by SU Arun Kumar, a filmmaker renowned for his acclaimed works including *Sethupathi*, *Chithha*, and *Veera Dheera Sooran*, this production has officially unveiled its title as *Sandiyar*.
Previously cataloged under the internal designation KH237, the project's new name has now been formally confirmed by the creators.
The inaugural poster presents Kamal Haasan in a formidable and somber guise, depicted standing beside a vehicle while blood stains his form.
This commanding presence, set against a shadowed backdrop, implies that the narrative will be driven by potent action and themes of retribution.
However, the film has garnered significant attention for an additional reason.
Prior to the official announcement of its title, the production company disseminated a promotional message implying that vengeance could only be adjudicated through bloodshed.Such a declaration was ill-received by a considerable segment of the audience.
Filmmaker Lenin Bharathi has levelled sharp criticism at the promotional campaign, voicing profound apprehension regarding the recurrent portrayal of violence as a panacea for societal ills.
He further interrogated the ethical implications of disseminating such narratives, particularly in a context where real-world violent incidents already demand urgent attention.Consequently, the initial unveiling of the film has been immediately engulfed in controversy.
The production benefits from a distinguished technical ensemble, featuring Anirudh Ravichander at the helm of the musical composition and acclaimed action choreographer Anbariv overseeing the stunt sequences.
Under the banner of Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, filming is anticipated to commence circa November 7, coinciding with the veteran actor's birthday.
