Directed by Vetrimaaran, Viduthalai Part 1 has turned out to be a sensational period drama with Soori playing a young police officer. The story revolves around a young police officer stationed in a mountainous region where there is more than just a conflict between the people and the police. Vijay Sethupathi appeared as Perumal in the first part, doing a cameo. The trailer for the second part has been released and it is Perumal's show all the way.
Vijay Sethupathi is playing the role of Perumal and the new trailer shows his story and how he decides to rebel against class hierarchies and caste discrimination. The second part will begin where the first one ended.

The trailer for Viduthalai 2 features images of violence, brutality and bloodshed. The trailer also introduces Manju Warrier, who plays an activist and Perumal's lover. Vetrimaaran is set to narrate another heartbreaking story, this time with Perumal's character in the lead role.
While Soori will be reprising his role from the original, the sequel will also see the return of Gautam Menon, Rajiv Menon and Chetan, among others. Viduthalai – Part 2 will hit the theatres on December 20, 2024.
