Will Kalki Do Another RRR In Japan?

The Japanese box office has proven to be a gold mine for several Telugu films. With the advent of pan-Indian cinema and the popularity of Rajamouli's films, the Japanese box office is opening up to Telugu content. The last Indian film to be a blockbuster in Japan was RRR. Now, Kalki is coming to cinemas across the country to try his luck.

Kalki 2898 AD starring Prabhas is currently screening in cinemas across Japan. The film was released in many cinemas. The team promoted the film very well and expected high box office collection.

Previously, RRR had a successful run of 200 days in theatres and grossed over Rs 410 million. The film was released in 209 cinemas across 44 prefectures and 31 IMAX theatres. RRR is the highest grossing Indian film in the country. Now, Kalki has a chance to surpass the RRR figures and emerge as the biggest film.

Prabhas is a big star globally and has an already established fan base in Japan due to the success of the Baahubali series. Prabhas had planned to promote Kalki in Japan but was unable to do so due to injury. However, the film's advance sales in Japan have been satisfactory and distributors expect Kalki to easily surpass RRR.

Vyjayanthi Movies has produced Kalki, set in the year 2898 AD. Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, Rajendra Prasad and others star in the film. The film was released on June 27, 2024 in India and overseas.
