Can Remastered Classics Find Digital Partners ?

Recently, Akkineni Nagarjuna's beloved movie Shiva was shown again in theaters and got a lot of praise from audiences for the team's hard work to improve the quality and offer a fresh experience with 4K visuals and Dolby Atmos sound. The effort paid off as the re-release made good money.

This re-release also sparked a new idea of bringing back other classic films by fixing old film copies and creating high-quality 4K prints.

Moviegoers are now wondering if these remastered versions will be available on digital platforms.

During a recent interview with Gulte, Nagarjuna said there are plans to put the updated version of Shiva on a digital platform, as the rights already belong to them.

Speaking about restoring other films, Nagarjuna mentioned that the technical team at Annapurna Studios has been working hard for years to improve the sound and visuals of old movies.

They finally succeeded with Shiva. He also noted that new technology, including AI, has made the restoration process much easier now.

The big question now is whether these remastered films can do well on today's digital platforms like OTT services.

Some people who have already watched old films on YouTube may not want to watch them again on OTT.

However, if a film isn't available on YouTube or DVD, and is restored with modern technology, it might attract viewers. Such movies could get good deals from OTT platforms if they are remastered like Shiva.
