Vijay’s Govt Mess: Suriya’s Karuppu To Postpone Again?

Suriya’s long-delayed film Karuppu has been making headlines for a while now due to rumors, controversies, and repeated postponements.
Still, there is no clear idea about when the film will finally be released. After facing multiple delays for different reasons, the film was finally announced for a big release on May 14.

But it seems the current political situation in Tamil Nadu might mess up the plans again.
These worries have grown stronger after director Balaji said the trailer release was delayed because of the ongoing political chaos.

Karuppu was originally set for release during Diwali last year.
But the release was postponed because they couldn’t complete the production formalities. They then planned for a Pongal release, but had to delay again due to unfinished CGI effects. In the end, they decided to release the film during the peak summer season, after the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. They picked a good date hoping that things would return to normal after the results came in.

Unfortunately, the current political turmoil in Tamil Nadu has once again created a big problem for the release plans.
Since Vijay’s TVK hasn’t formed a government yet and there are a lot of political talks going on, it’s unclear what will happen next. It has been three days since the election results were announced, but things are still uncertain.

As of now, it seems like the crisis isn’t going to end soon.
With only a week left until the release date, it’s not clear whether the makers of Karuppu will go ahead with their original plan, especially with the whole state watching the political situation closely.

If the political drama settles in the next few days and a new government is formed quickly, Karuppu might release on May 14 as planned.
But if not, another delay is likely, and Suriya and his team will have to choose another date. This will be another setback for the film, as the excitement has dropped because of the repeated delays and rumors.

Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu stars Trisha, Indrans, Natty, Swasika, and Shivadha, among others.
Produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu under Dream Warrior Pictures, the film has music by Sai Abhyankkar, cinematography by GK Vishnu, and editing by R Kalaivanan.
